A block ridge can have range of styles – straight cut or ornamental – whereby the design is agreed (points, scallops, etc.). The ridge is still fixed with hazel spars and will be wired.

Ridges are always constructed in combed wheat straw. This is a pliable, durable material.

Typically, the ridge should last at least 10-12 years.
